I was making my round today visiting Real Estate clients on Sawtelle blvd (little Japan), where I took my usual curious glance at what food truck was around today. And there it was in front of me, “India Jones Chow Truck”. I took not a double take, but a quadruple take to make sure what I saw was real. There is 1 other indian food truck I’ve seen which was ‘Dosa Truck’, but this one has a full menu.

Find them on http://www.indiajoneschowtruck.com & twitter.com/indiajonesct

A few things on their menu:

Menu

FRANKIE 3.50
Roti roll up with cilantro tamarind chutney, chopped onion and egg.
Lamb, Chicken, Beef, Shrimp,
Paneer and Mushroom & Cheese

PARATHA 3.50
Spicy stuffed rotis served with raita
Aloo (Potato), Gobhi (Cauliflower), & Kemma (minced Beef)

CURRIES
Served over Basmati rice

Butter Chicken 7.00
Meat Curry du jour 7.00
Vegetable Curry du jour 7.00
Lentil/Bean du jour 6.00

This is quite exciting for me as I am an indian food lover, and I don’t believe in paying for expensive indian food (same goes for Chinese & Mexican). It’s just not authentic when it’s not drenched in unreasonably fatty ingredients such as coconut milk, vegetable oil, lard… you get the point!

What will really excite me thought is if I find a dirty street cart, Mexican style, but with huge tin cans of spicy curry and fried paratha, which the health department would rate a F- on Sawtelle Soon. Preferably with cows & goats & beggar children circling it. That’ll be the day!
